Brighten your wintry season with Snowed In: A Merge Records Holiday Album. Our second collection of holiday tunes, Snowed In features both original music and covers of traditional and contemporary classics by 11 Merge artists, all newly recorded for this compilation. Snowed In has gifts for every kind of listener, from Charlotte Cornfield's heartwarming take on 'Jingle Bells' to Dawn Richard's smoldering 'On A Night Like This.' Gorgeous versions of 'O Holy Night' (Fruit Bats) and 'Jesus Was A Cross Maker' (Elanor Moss) sit alongside original yuletide rockers by Mike Krol and The Tubs. Case Oats and Rosali evoke the spirit of family caroling in wildly divergent fashion, Case Oats pounding out the raucous original 'Peace on Earth' and Rosali sitting in with her parents, Lee and David Middleman, on a tender rendition of 'The Cherry Tree Carol.' Rounding out the festivities are holiday hitmakers Telekinesis, The New Pornographers, and Superchunk, who fit right into the canon with the likes of Bing, Mariah, and McCartney. So deck the halls, shake out those ugly Christmas sweaters and make Snowed In the sound of your season. It's an eclectic gathering, but what great party isn't?
