This album does not set out to provide an exhaustive overview of the rich heritage of traditional Christmas carols, but offers a programme that combines Nau's carols with instrumental pieces from the 16th and 17th centuries. Louise and Alban Tixier present a freely inspired repertoire. Although the theme centres on traditional Christmas carols, they have selected, above all, works they love, blending tradition and 'art' music at will. As a result, the album transports us to a transitional era, between the Renaissance and the Grand Siecle.
