Gerit Lense's concept is to shed light on the personalities and compositional styles of the two wonderful musicians and composers, Joseph Haas and Franz Liszt, and to trace their life stories through the various stages of their lives. To this end, he has selected piano works composed around the time each composer was 40 years old, as well as works from later in their lives: Joseph Haas was about 65 years old, and Franz Liszt was about 72 years old.
