Kid Creole & the Coconuts were founded in the early 80's by August Darnell. With his alter ego Kid Creole however, he found the vehicle for his creativity. Their first two albums "off the coast of me" (1980) and "fresh fruit in foreign places" (1981) had been widely accepted, their big breakout came in 1982 with the album "tropical gangsters" containing the hits "Annie, I'm not Your Daddy", "Stool Pigeon" and "I'm a Wonderful Thing Baby". Both Rockpalast recordings capture the essence of their successful breakthrough to mass audiences.
