On March 16, 2013 Jason Molina passed away of natural causes after a long-standing battle with alcohol. Jason's death shook the world of many music-loving souls and the music world as a whole. At 39 years old, he left behind a remarkable song catalog and lasting impression on anyone who heard his music with Songs: Ohia and Magnolia Electric Co. Starting as a heavy metal bass player from Loraine, Ohio, he became one of the most influential and iconic singer/songwriters in indie music. FAREWELL TRANSMISSION THE MUSIC OF JASON MOLINA is a collection of Molina favorites performed by My Morning Jacket (with a track exclusive to this collection), Magnolia Memorial Company (formerly Songs: Ohia), Murder by Death, Communist Daughter, Enemy Planes and more! FAREWELL TRANSMISSION also contains new music from Molina's band mates - Memorial Electric Company including 'Arm in Arm', a tribute to their fallen band mate and beloved Molina live concert staple, 'Trouble in Mind (Fade to Blue)', previously unreleased. Rock the Cause Records, a music based nonprofit, is donating all net proceeds to MusiCares.
