Turkuaz is a 9-piece “PowerFunk” army whose modern twist on the classic sound has placed them at the forefront of a new funk evolution. With influences ranging from P-Funk and Sly &The Family Stone to The Beatles, Ray Charles, Motown and Talking Heads. Turkuaz’s synthesis of the past is a soulful, lyrical, intensely musical, jittery, world pop dance party update to the funk idiom best described as part freight train and part tyrannosaurus rex. Turkuaz has built a solid, passionate fanbase through coast-to-coast touring. Their 2014 release Future 86 sold over 2500 units, without retail support or distribution, and received airplay on over 150 AAA and college stations, peaking at #`49 in CMJ and #2 in the Relix radio charts. Turkuaz’s top touring markets: NY, SF, Boston, Seattle, Denver, Providence, DC, Portland, Chicago and Burlington, VT. The band plays the premiere clubs and theaters, such as Irving Plaza, in all of these markets.
