Babylon (2012) bore some resemblance to Matt’s “day job” Akaline Trio. But the conception, construction and execution of KUTS found the mainman working in an area that felt distinctly different from his past work. Matt Skiba and the Sekrets now have their own individual sound.

As for the curious album title, Matt says that “there was a time when musicians and radio DJs called songs ‘cuts.’ It’s a play on that, as well as a statement about coming out of something scraped or cut up. I used the Germanic ‘K’ spelling for various song titles for the same reason I use it in the band name.” And that reason? It’s a sekret, naturally.
