In 2013, Jesse Bettis was gearing up to take over Portland, Oregon with his latest musical project - New Move. His upbeat arrangements, pop sensibility and precision execution had already wooed the critics and the masses were just catching on, turning out for packed shows all over town. Immediately after tying the knot on the package, the release of New Move’s debut self-titled album was put on hold when Bettis happened upon a brief encounter with the grim reaper. While hosting a party at his home, a strange man infiltrated the get together, posing as a friend of a friend. After the group realized he was an intruder, an exit-struggle ensued, leading the man to pull a knife and stab Bettis in the ribs before fleeing. Bettis was rushed to the hospital where he spent several days on the brink, leaving time to reflect. In the following months Bettis' wounds healed, his strength returned, and as a testament to his resilience he’s finally ready to show the world his record; an album that resonates with powerful proof that music can guide us through life’s darkest ordeals. New Move has emerged as a shining star of pop determination. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, Bettis has been creating music for half of his life, but nothing compares to the gravitas that is New Move. Framed as a classic American pop-quintet, the band paints their songs with elements of glam rock, doo-wop and modern indie-pop. For the album, Bettis enlisted Jeff Bond (drums), Pedro Wilcox (keys), Alex Bekuhrs (baritone sax), Seth Mankoski (bass) and Casey Burge (bass) to breathe life into his creation and complete the vision.
