Tombstone was produced in Austin, Texas with Lars Goransson. This album is Hopkins '15th Luminarios album and was written with his wife, Lisa Novak. The band musicians on this album are Austinites Jon Sanchez and George Duron who both have been with Hopkins for over 5 years and are in his touring band. George Reiff (Joe Walsh) played bass along with Paul Beebe and Tucsonan Duane Hollis.
