For most artists, a 'Best Of' compilation is a chance to sit back and take a well-deserved break without having to go through all the work of putting together a new album. But Joyce DiDonato has made a career out of doing things differently, and her new collection ReJOYCE! The Best of Joyce DiDonato is no exception. Rather than assemble a retrospective behind closed doors, Joyce opened up the project to her passionate and dedicated fan base, asking them to help suggest and vote on a title, select a track list, share photos and comments for the liner notes, and even provide an image for the album cover! This unprecedented level of crowd sourcing has resulted in an album that is truly 'of the people and for the people,'. in addition to the fan-selected tracks, ReJOYCE! Also features six previously-unreleased tracks, including Joyce's signature encore 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow,' performed movingly with her hometown Kansas City Symphony orchestra.
