Bach's Brandenburg Concertos scarcely need an introduction. Widely regarded as among the finest orchestral compositions of the Baroque era, these six works dedicated to the Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt in 1721 explore a dizzying array of instrumental combinations and timbres. The rise of historically informed performance practices in recent years has shed new light on the evergreen Brandenburg Concertos and greatly expanded the gamut of interpretive possibilities.
