For years, Childish Gambino's Atavista hid in plain sight. When he released an unfinished version of the record on March 15, 2020, it spent just 12 hours on his website before he pulled it down. Reappearing on streaming a week later as 3.15.20, the project brought up almost as many questions as sparkling neo-soul anthems, which still sounded slicker than the average as raw cuts titled after timestamps.
Atavista is an ode to impermanence, never more directly than over the glimmering guitar of "Time" with Grande. ("One thing's for certain, baby/We're running out of time," they harmonize on the chorus.) But in Gambino's capable hands, Atavista also slows down to enjoy the view, the sonic equivalent of a luxe leather-interior BMW cruising an open California highway. "I did what I wanted to," he revels on closing track "Final Church." Atavista took many shapes over the years to reach a final form. In each warm refrain, tight sequence, and carefully chosen collaborator, Gambino demonstrates why some things are worth waiting for.

For his debut EP Wonderland, Vienna Vienna is teaming up with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz through a partnership with his legendary label DCD2 and PULSE Records. The EP explores Vienna Vienna’s journey with self-acceptance and queerness while growing up “equally deeply Christian and very devout.” It takes the listener through all his highs and lows, imbued with the smiling snark of ‘00s pop-punk, the glamor and glitter of queer pop, and the earnestness of soft-rock ballads.
Beginning in the 1970s and continuing to the present day, Cash has staked out a distinctive place in American music. Her songs have drawn on rockabilly rhythms, the truth-telling of folk-rock songwriters, West Coast country-rock energy, new wave flash and deeply rooted country music. A four-time Grammy winner, her hits include “Seven Year Ache,” “Blue Moon with Heartache,” “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me,” “I Don't Want to Spoil the Party,” “It Hasn’t Happened Yet,” “Tennessee Flat Top Box, “No Memories Hangin' Round” and “Never Be You,” among others. Throughout her career, she has maintained an unwavering artistic spirit and vision. In 2021, Cash became the first female composer to receive the MacDowell Medal, awarded since 1960 to an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to American culture.
The Essential Collection creates a space, one in which Cash controls the stories she tells, the masks she wears, the light shed. These two discs represent over 40 years of work— of songwriting, singing, and collaboration, and of struggle, loss, renewal, insecurity, power, longing, and curiosity.

Roger Eno & Brian Eno - "Mixing Colours" [Magenta/Blue 2 LP] In March 2020, Roger Eno and Brian Eno released their first album, Mixing Colours, on Deutsche Grammophon. Roger and Brian have revolutionized many concepts of music production and performance, from Brian Eno's groundbreaking treatment of pop music to younger brother Roger Eno's Erik Satie-esque ambient synth/piano recordings. These qualities resonate on this release. Each brings their unerring sense of place and mood to the album. The timbre in each track deepens and opens with each listen. Concrete yet abstract tracks guide the listener through the collection, which was created over several years in a unique collaboration between the two artists. 2 LP set on magenta and blue color vinyl. Limited Edition.
VĂkingur Olafsson - "Philip Glass: Piano Works" [Crystal Clear 2 LP] Icelandic pianist VĂkingur Olafsson pays tribute to the master of minimal music, Philip Glass. Olafsson was one of a handful of young pianists selected by Glass to perform all his Etudes together in London, and the reviews were ecstatic. The Financial Times claimed, "Best of all was Olafsson in the supersensitive stillness of Etude 5." In addition to the Etudes for solo piano, Piano Works (originally released in 2017 around Philip's 80th birthday) includes reworks of the originals for piano and string quartet. 2 LP set on crystal clear vinyl. Limited Edition.

This is followed by arias from four operas by Donizetti: 'Lucia di Lammermoor', 'Il duca d'Alba', 'La favourita' and 'Don Sebastiano'. Hardly ever has Pavarotti's singing been more natural and accomplished than on this album, pressed on yellow vinyl that reflects the colours of the striking cover.

1978's Rough saw Turner depart from the high-octane rock and soul sound of previous albums. Recently separated from her husband and musical partner Ike Turner, this album carved a new musical identity blending disco and blues with the opening track "Fruits of the Night" and Bob Segar's "Fire Down Below." Billboard dubbed the album as an "adventurous variety of old and new material," adding that Turner's "delivery has lost none of it's snap and crackle.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season Two Mutant in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios will release physical editions of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Season Two: Amazon Original Series Soundtrack) on August 23rd, tied to the highly-anticipated return of the series later this month. The full episodic score for the second season of the Amazon Original series was composed by Emmyr Award-winner Bear McCreary (Da Vinci's Demons). The soundtrack will also include two new songs featuring renowned vocalists Rufus Wainwright and Jens Kidman, respectively. Digital and streaming of the Season Two soundtrack will be available on August 23rd, and on that same date, vinyl can be pre-ordered at Amazon Music. A special Collector's Edition will also be available for pre-order exclusively on Amazon Music. For the epic first season of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, composer Bear McCreary wove a tapestry of symphonic orchestra, bombastic percussion, and folk instruments from across Europe and North Africa, combined with solo vocalists and choirs singing in the iconic languages of J.R.R. Tolkien's books. For the gripping second season, McCreary has built atop that foundation with dynamic new themes and colors, including Bulgarian women's choir and gadulka for Rhûn, children's choir for the pastoral city of Eregion, Hardanger fiddle for new character Estrid, and deathly whispers for the terrifying Barrow-wights.

The Velveteers bring a visceral energy to their explosive sophomore album, A Million Knives, loaded with blistering rock anthems infused with melodic indie songwriting. Partners in life and music, Sarah and Austin McCombie have captured the adoration of fans nationwide and praise from Garden & Gun, American Songwriter, Paste and No Depression. Amid an impressive touring schedule, the two have already released three full-length records and somehow find energy to run their farm in their home state of North Carolina, a work ethic and connection to community that comes through in their songwriting. In 2020, the band played 194 neighborhood concerts as part of their concept The Stay at Home Tour, allowing them to connect with fans in a time of need. The following year, the duo caught the attention of PBS and filmed a limited series titled On the Road that is currently airing nationwide. The McCombies are poised for their most ambitious year yet, including a stacked headlining tour with their full backing band. Their fourth album Be Real with Me will be released independently on February 14, 2025

Colin McCann, Brian Gossman, and Eric Fiscus periodically return to the grid from the remote mountains of Northern California to document their evo/involution as Vulture Feather. Touring the states throughout much of 2024, they brought the sharpened machine back to Tim Green's Louder Studios to capture their second album, It Will Be Like Now.In literary terms, the record is a work of man versus nature, except man and nature are both secret identities of a third, unnamed thing. Tears and the ocean and death are the main characters, and the initiated may get the sense that these too, belong to the absolute. It all ultimately resolves as a terrifying and beautiful love story. Sonically speaking, It Will Be Like Now reports from a place where PiL and Jah Wobble never parted ways, where Johnny Marr righted the ship, where songs only need one part: the good part. The heads will know McCann and Gossman from their time in the prehistoric Don Martin Three (recently re-issued catalog by Numero Group) and later, Wilderness (Jagjaguwar). While prior efforts are beside the point, this is undeniably the sound of people who have been making music together for 25+ years. Glistening as much as howling, the guitar and vocals function as duet, delivering The Only Story Ever Told over a concise and thunderous rhythm section. It's the sound emulating from everywhere, all the time, through thick carpets of clouds, reverberating off canyon walls, through troubled waters, and finally to your devices, your ears, your heart, if you choose to hear it.
Orchid & tangerine a-side/b-side with hot pink splatter. Since their breakout 2012 self-titled debut album, The Lumineers have achieved some incredible milestones: twenty-four number one hits, billions of streams, packed global arena tours, multi-platinum releases, Grammy nominations, and, most important to core members Jeremiah Fraites and Wesley Schultz, numerous beloved, timeless songs. The band's fifth studio album Automatic out February 14, is being released in a music landscape that has become dominated by solo artists dependent on other writers. Schultz says being one of the few groups touring who write all their own material, is "a unique badge of honor." But that's not to say they won't collaborate with other artists; Schultz and Fraites have recently written and appeared on songs with pop icon P!nk, as well as rising singer-songwriters James Bay and Zach Bryan

After several wildly popular singles out on Penrose Records, alongside labelmates Thee Sacred Souls, The Altons gear up to release their debut album on Daptone Records. With lead vocals shared between Adriana Flores and Brian Ponce the interplay between their unique timbres brings a romantic quality to the music that is absent in many of today's soul offerings. Steeped with moody ballads, soulful, tejano-kissed duets and Bond theme psychedelia–Heartache in Room 14 is poised to be the "must have" album of 2025.
Good Morning release their eighth record, The Accident, on vinyl in early 2025. Featuring the duo of Liam Parsons and Stefan Blair, Good Morning entered ‘album eight’ mode under the guise of studio time booked without pre- prepared songs, resulting in jamming together – “something that we’ve spent the better part of our adult lives avoiding,” they explain. Written and recorded wholly together in one shared space and exclusively digital thanks to a broken eight track tape machine. Indie Exclusive.

Like a passenger riding shotgun on a road trip, The Villagers Companion offers its own unique perspective and story to tell. Featuring tracks recorded alongside last year's acclaimed villagers, TVC captures the miles between the start and destination-the faded gas station pit stops, the plastic saint statue stuck to the dashboard for safe travels or luck. It embodies the essence of the journey without the burden of driving-the experience of the ride itself.
The album takes us through the heart of Califone's magic: reverb-drenched piano chords, electronic whirs, and layers of experimental noise. Guided by Tim Rutili's abstract, fragmented lyrics-both strange and familiar-delivered through his warm, well-worn vocals, it creates an experience as evocative as it is haunting. Often passing through what seem to be the spaces between radio frequencies, the stations never meant to be heard. Crackles of static, feedback loops, and fleeting signals bloom into meditative moments, with each sound given space to breathe, unravel, and shimmer in slow decay. The result resonates deeply, transforming what might be noise into something profound, hypnotic, and totally immersive.
As with villagers, Rutili and company continue to explore what it means to get lost while surrounded by modern technology. Like a ghost in a machine or a whispered prayer stuck in a telephone line, Califone adds soul-be it damned or saved. And they do so with the kind of transformative magic granted perhaps only to artists a quarter of a century into their craft. The kind that turns a photograph into a tableau, or any darkened space with a microphone into a makeshift confessional. A song into a hymn, and a hymn into a soundtrack to a life.

Having earned rave reviews and a 2024 OPUS KLASSIK Young Talent of the Year award for her DG debut, Beethoven and Beyond, the Spanish violinist now turns to Paganini's legendary 24 Caprices. She couples these with a selection of later works inspired by Paganini, presenting music by composers ranging from Berlioz to Gabriela Ortiz. Mathias Eick - "Lullaby" (Compact Disc) For Lullaby, Norwegian trumpeter Mathias Eick draws on the quartet formation in a program that includes some of his most exploratory and improvisatory qualities to date, with a cast of ECM familiars Kristjan Randalu and Ole Morten Vågan on piano and bass, and new arrival Hans Hulbækmo on drums. There's a sense of abandon within these deeply melodic songs, as the musicians flow smoothly between harmonies, collectively building momentum from within the forms. Eick's immediately recognizable and soothing tone is often confronted by Randalu's in turns lyrical and energetic keyboard flights, soaring above a propulsive, always engaging rhythm section. The album was recorded at Rainbow Studio in Oslo. Verve Label Group; ECM; Jazz

Bill Henderson - "Bill Henderson With The Oscar Peterson Trio (Verve By Request Series)" [180g LP] Bill Henderson may not have been a household name among jazz singers, but this 1963 release raises a valid point that maybe he should have been. Of course, taking on this mix of standards with the Oscar Peterson Trio - including Ed Thigpen (drums) and Ray Brown (bass), certainly could make a lesser talent look better. But Henderson matches the group's ability and elevates classics like "All or Nothing At All," and "You Are My Sunshine" with his own point of view. Verve By Request Series features 180-gram vinyl, pressed at Third Man in Detroit. Verve Label Group; Verve; Jazz; Catalog [180gram Heavy Vinyl LP]

Sunny War, also known as Sydney Ward, found inspiration for her latest album Armageddon In A Summer Dress while living in her late father's 100-year-old house in Chattanooga, TN. She initially thought the house was haunted. Eerie sounds and visions led her to write the song "Ghosts." However, she later discovered that hallucinations were caused by gas leaks, shifting her understanding of those experiences but not her artistic focus. Armageddon In A Summer Dress explores themes of memory, loss, and the ghosts of past selves.
After the success of her 2022 album, Anarchist Gospel, Sunny spent more time touring with artists like Bonnie Raitt and Mitski. To avoid falling back into past struggles with alcohol, she channeled her energy into music, crafting intricate demos and experimenting with sound. This process involved shifting from acoustic to electric guitar, aiming for a fuller band sound.
Tracks like "One Way Train" and "No One Calls Me Baby" highlight her blend of punk and roots influences, emphasizing the rebellious spirit shared by both genres. A notable collaboration on the album is with Steve Ignorant from Crass, whose participation in "Walking Contradiction" reflects Sunny's admiration for the band and its critique of modern society.
Armageddon in a Summer Dress serves as a reflection on identity and choices, balancing heavy themes with empowerment. Sunny War encourages listeners to live authentically and resist societal pressures. Committed to continual growth, she sees every performance and song as an opportunity for exploration. Through her music, Sunny War captures the complexities of life, loss, and the transformative power of creativity.
"So Close To What” is the third studio album by Tate McRae. This LP represents the journey of growing up when the road ahead feels infinite and the destination increasingly elusive.
Powerhouse vocalist Jordan Smith invites listeners to church with a dynamic collection of Gospel standards. Produced by Tommy Sims and Colin Linden, The People's Hymnal showcases stirring arrangements that are familiar yet reimagined by "The Voice" winner. Featuring "How Great Thou Art," "Oh Happy Day" and more, the contemporary Gospel, pop-tinged recording spotlights Smith's effortless vocals that are pristine yet uninhibited, as he skillfully chronicles his influences with heart and soul.
When it comes to songwriting, less is more and simplicity is strength. Just ask Paul Thorn, who’s spent three decades turning soulful grooves and small syllables into songs that pack a big wallop. Maybe he learned the power of minimalism from his years as a pro boxer, maybe it just comes naturally. But whether he’s targeting heads, hearts, hips or the occasional funny bone, he somehow manages to condense large nuggets of wisdom into tight little mantras, the kind embroiderers stitched onto pillows before internet memes existed.
Thorn’s new album, “Life Is Just a Vapor, contains some beauties. “Life is a vapor, let’s live it while we can”; “tough times don’t last, but tough people do” (from “Tough Times Don’t Last”); “any mountain up ahead is just a hill” (from “Old Melodies”). They’re words of advice, comfort, support, encouragement, often meant to uplift, especially in times of struggle.
“I like for people to be touched by music and get something from it, something that they can take with them throughout the day,” Thorn says. “Every song on this album, there's a message in it of some sort about how to live life.”
American Blues Scene writer Don Wilcock calls Thorn “an everyman (who) addresses things we all think about, but few can articulate with the kind of candor, humor and folksy truth that immediately endear him to almost everyone lucky enough to hear his music.”
Irish rock band The Murder Capital Return with their third studio album, Blindness, recorded in Los Angeles earlier this year with producer John Congelton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten) and featuring the recently released single ‘Can’t Pretend To Know’ and coming single ‘Words Lost Meaning’.
Blindness is the vividly realised, clear-sightedly ambitious new album from The Murder Capital. A record that’s both momentous and charged with momentum. That’s intimate and simultaneously expansive. Eleven songs that don’t hang about in terms of grabbing the listener.

Featuring what may be his only recordings on the Prophet keyboard, these once lost performances expand the omniverse of Ra across a stellar set of lengthy cuts! All recorded in a single day and finally making their terrestrial debut, pressed on red vinyl and packaged with a Prophet keyboard brochure plus notes from Ranthropologist Brother Cleve! What happens when a Prophet meets a Prophet? The answer lies within these grooves. Amongst the hundreds of recordings issued by Sun Ra and his Arkestra, under their various guises, the majority were recorded in concert or in makeshift studios such as their early 1960s set-up at NYC's Choreographer's Workshop. Beyond those, roughly 22 albums were recorded at Variety Recording Studio in New York's Times Square. However, on August 25, 1986, Sun Ra and cohorts entered Mission Control, a state-of-the-art 24-track studio north of Boston, which was teeming with electronic keyboards and otherworldly sound generators. Nestled within that arsenal was a brand-new digital ultra keyboard - the Prophet VS ("Vector Synthesizer"). Of all the keyboards Ra played throughout his half-century career, the Prophet was one of the most sophisticated. There's no evidence that he had played either of the instrument's earlier incarnations, the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 and Prophet-10. Created using microprocessors, a then-new technological advance, under the auspices of engineer Dave Smith in 1978, the Prophet-5 revolutionized electronic music as the first polyphonic and, most importantly, programmable synthesizer. Ra was intrigued by the Prophet (surely by the instrument as well as by the name). Recorded during a single day, it's about time that these once lost performances have now been found.
Cellist Peggy Lee and guitarist Cole Schmidt are quite simply two of the most important composer-improvisers to have emerged from Vancouver's vibrant creative music community. Both wield vast vocabularies on their respective instruments, and with them they can coax out a seemingly endless array of sonic colours within just as many stylistic frameworks. They're also united by their shared gift for a particular sort of melodicism - one that can sneak it's way into multiple idioms and expressions. This potent combination of attributes has been over the past decade in groups such as Echo Painting and SICK BOSS. The pair serve as the album's gracious co-hosts, sharing compositional duties, the auditory limelight and seemingly divvying up the allotment of guests. Each brings several close collaborators to the sizeable cast of friends: international luminaries such as Wayne Horvitz, Frank Rosaly, Erika Angell, Meredith Bates, Sara Schoenbeck, and Dylan van der Schyff, all make appearances, plus fellow members of SICK BOSS like JP Carter and James Meger.
This self-titled work published album by singer-songwriter and master guitarist Ted Lucas has achieved an almost mystical reputation among aficionados and collectors. Ted Lucas is a seamless marriage of moody odes and raga style instrumentals regarded by many to be, simply put, the greatest private press folk/psych album ever recorded. Lucas was a fixture in the Detroit rock scene of the sixties and seventies. His first band, The Spike Drivers, was one of the very first true psych bands, the Motor City’s answer to Jefferson Airplane and The Byrds. Following that band's collapse, Lucas paid bills doing session work with Motown. And there he recorded, in 1972, the demo for Warner Brothers which would become Ted Lucas, released in two private editions in 1975 and known informally to friends and family as The OM Album, after Lucas' own label. The album was released with artwork by the legendary Stanley Mouse originally created for Jimi Hendrix.
Edwin McCain is back with Lucky, his first album of new material in 15 years. Produced by Lee Brice, Lucky features classic Edwin McCain songwriting and soulful performances, as well as guest vocal appearances by Brice, Matt Ramsey of Old Dominion, and Rebecca Lynn Howard. Called a “street corner prophet” by the USA Today, an “aching tenor” by Slate Magazine, and a “great American romantic” by the New York Times; Edwin rides a career wave created by recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of music (I’ll Be and I Could Not Ask For More), producing and starring in a tv series (Flippin’ Ships on Animal Planet), and touring the world singing and spinning stories. Edwin’s fans are clamoring for more, so Edwin McCain is back at full throttle. Not that Edwin’s music ever slows down. “American Idol” and “The Voice” contestants turn to Edwin’s ballads every year to help them win over judges and fans. Millions more have been turned on by pop icons Justin Bieber and Charlie Puth who have both covered Edwin’s songs. And look for a TV appearance or two by the artist himself very soon. Fresh off a summer of touring with friends Hootie and the Blowfish and Collective Soul, Edwin McCain will be on the road everywhere in 2025!
Back to the roots or back to the future? No matter how you call it, Grave Digger record the first album of their career completely without keyboard passages. With new axeman Tobias Kersting, the band finds its way back to long forgotten trademarks. Raw, brutal, honest and yet catchy, songs like "Bone Collector" or "Made of Madness" thunder out of the speakers. Groovemonsters like "Riders of Doom" or "Mirror of Hate" come across like a steamroller and the band also quotes the good old stadium rock times in the form of "The Devils Serenade". "Bone Collector" is a manifesto of German Heavy Metal, old-school at its best, without rust and patina, no self-copying and always authentic, this is how the band's new work can be described. Rarely has the band sounded more versatile than in these days. Energetic, fresh, multifaceted ... brings it to the point.
Limited white colored vinyl. Fred Again's upcoming album, "Ten Days", follows his successful Actual Life series and features a collection of tracks inspired by ten significant days in his life over the past year. Fred Again has described these songs as reflections on "small, quiet, intimate moments," with some capturing intensely joyful experiences and others representing more challenging emotions. The album includes collaborations with a variety of artists, such as Anderson.Paak, Sampha, Skrillex, Four Tet, and Emmylou Harris, among others.
Originally Released in 1981, the debut of the legendary keyboardist from Eberhard Weber's Colours band and later the Jan Garbarek Group, Freigeweht presented Rainer Br?ninghaus as a highly original and idiosyncratic sound sculptor in his own right, accompanied by ECM stalwarts Kenny Wheeler on flugelhorn and drummer Jon Christensen as well as oboist Brynjar Hoff. In a review of the album from the year of it's release, the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung traced Rainer's influences and minimalist designs back to Steve Reich, calling Br?ninghaus "the most imaginative musician to employ minimal art in the realm of jazz. Though he neither uses minimal art as ideology nor as replacement for a rhythm section, but in a more playfully constructive way, as an element that can undergo change." Jon Christensen adds uncompromising propulsion to Br?ninghaus's lyrical themes, which are evocatively fleshed out by Wheeler and Hoff's contemplative tones. 180g LP. Part of ECM's New Audiophile Vinyl Series: Luminessence!
'The Absence' is the third record from grammy-nominated Melody Gardot. Produced by Heitor Pereira, renowned for his work as a film composer ('Despicable Me', 'It's Complicated', 'From Prada to Nada') and world-class session guitarist (Sting, Seal, Caetano Veloso), the Brazilian-born, US-based artist shared Melody's enthusiasm for driving off the beaten path of western pop, jazz, blues and soul. And he was as adventurous as melody when it came to inventive sonic ideas. From the deserts of Morocco to the streets of Lisboa, from the tango bars of Buenos Aires to the beaches of Brazil, 'The Absence' captures the essence of each of these exotic locales, while at the same time remaining quintessentially Melody Gardot.

Patterson Hood's first solo record in over a decade was born out of a friendship with producer Chris Funk (The Decemberists). The pair would often perform together for fun and during Hood's solo tours, making far-off plans to make a record together. They eventually went into Jackpot Studios in Portland. Many of the songs were composed on piano marking a bigger departure from his work with Drive-By Truckers than prior solo efforts. Guest appearances from: Waxahatchee, Wednesday and Lydia Loveless

The beauty of The Devil Makes Three is the way they take an old-time musical genre and, by putting their own imprint on it, turn it into something that lives and breathes anew, passing the torch to a new generation, just as stateside rock fans learned about the likes of pioneers Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Buddy Holly from the first wave of British Invasion bands. With their latest album, Spirits, the band continues this tradition by incorporating their signature punk, folk and bluegrass sound along with country and singer-songwriter leanings.
“That’s what we set out to do. We wanted to use these musical forms to talk about current issues,” explains Pete Bernhard. “We didn’t want to just sing about trains and mining and drinking. For myself, it didn’t seem relevant. Folk music should be about what’s happening now, just as it was when Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan did it. Our music is not just a re-enactment of something old and dusty.”
The song titles alone describe the band’s return to a stripped-down, drum-less sound and songs that reflect the ongoing struggle to survive amid the uncertainties of the current volatile climate: “Dark Gets the Best of You,” “Divide and Conquer,” “Ghost are Weak,” “Hard Times,” “I Love Doing Drugs,” “Poison Well” and “The Devil Wins.” The tracks were recorded at Dreamland, part of a converted church compound outside Woodstock in upstate New York which offered some haunted moments of its own, with plenty of spooky thunderstorms and lightning.
“There’s definitely a theme of ghosts and death running through this album,” acknowledged Bernhard, who lost his mother, brother and closest childhood friend while making the record. “It also has a good amount of political material, a reflection on how divided people are these days, just trying to find common ground. Not being able to perform our music live led to some deep reflections.”
The Devil Makes Three have a very loyal, dedicated and diverse fan base that wouldn't necessarily spend much time together. With Spirits the band hope to continue to bring together all sides to listen to the band's take on personal hardships as well as shared struggles.

California-bred singer-songwriter, Jillian Rose Banks, aka BANKS, crafts moody, alternative pop with shades of contemporary R&B. Emerging in the early 2010s with a handful of downtempo, alt-R&B tracks, BANKS created a signature sound that helped build a cross-genre audience. Her critically acclaimed and gold-certified debut album, Goddess, featured songs like “Before I Ever Met You,” “Warm Water,” and “Fall Over,” as well as collaborations with producers Justin Parker, Shlomo, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. The album peaked just outside the Top Ten on the Billboard 200. In 2016, BANKS released her highly anticipated sophomore album, The Altar, which featured singles “Fuck with Myself,” “Gemini Feeed,” and “Mind Games,” and peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200. BANKS returned in July 2019 with her third studio album, III, which featured her synth-heavy single “Gimme.” Additional contributors included Francis and the Lights on “Look What You’re Doing To Me” and producer Paul Epworth (Adele, Rihanna) on “Hawaiian Mazes.” She released a short EP entitled Live and Stripped in 2020, followed by her 2022 album Serpentina, which BANKS recorded amid the pandemic during months of isolation and is tied to themes of shedding old skin and embracing the new. BANKS’s artistry stands out through the rawness and vulnerability that shines earnestly through her music. With so much success under her belt already, BANKS is looking forward to an exciting future ahead.
BANKS’ latest singles “Best Friends” and “I Hate Your Ex-Girlfriend” will be included on BANKS’ upcoming fifth studio album entitled, Off With Her Head, for which she states, “In many ways, it’s a big sister album to Goddess. After a decade apart, I’ve reunited with the core musicians and producers who helped shape my debut. At the same time, it’s something entirely different— I’ve grown so much as an artist and a person, and the journey is documented in all these sounds.” Off With Her Head is set for release on February 28, 2025.
Billboard Heart, the new album by Deep Sea Diver, immediately puts the Seattle band in the company of St. Vincent, TV on the Radio, and Flock of Dimes, bands that have found newly ornate and magnetic ways to make indie rock by discarding notions of how it must sound or what it must say. It's their fourth album and first for Sub Pop, and it is a coup, a triumph over self-doubt, transforming failure into an opportunity to find new freedom, belief, and strength. In the middle of July 2023 in a Los Angeles studio, Deep Sea Diver mastermind Jessica Dobson took a guitar solo but somehow felt nothing. Just days earlier, her Seattle band played a series of semi-secret shows for devotees as de facto rehearsals for a new record. The sets had gone well, but the new songs seemed muddled, Dobson's conviction lost somewhere in the 1,000 miles between Southern California and the home studio she shares with partner, drummer, and frequent cowriter Peter Mansen. On that first night in Los Angeles, she broke down, wondering what she was doing there, and pondering how to fix it. Deep Sea Diver retreated home without an album. Did they need to scrap it, to begin again with new material? Not at all: Following a brief break, Dobson found a renewed sense of self, a trust in her vision for her band and songs and her ability to capture them. Over dinner with longtime collaborator Andy Park, a humbling confession that she needed help inspired Dobson to reimagine and reinvigorate Deep Sea Diver. This revelation set the stage for the power and brilliance of Billboard Heart, Three years before Dobson's galvanizing dinner with Park, Deep Sea Diver issued it's third album, 2020's Impossible Weight, via the colossal indie imprint, ATO. It was a significant step up, and earned the band a groundswell of exposure and a spot on Billboard charts. But the success caused Dobson to doubt her impulses, to wonder what an idea's impact or reception might be as much the strength of the idea itself. Moments of domestic creation, with her at the piano and Mansen on guitar in their Seattle living room, forged a path forward, and reinvigorated the pair's songwriting partnership. From end to end, the material on Billboard Heart is astonishing. The title track is the one song Deep Sea Diver actually finished in Los Angeles. It's a radiant and magnificent thing, the billowing synths of Elliot Jackson and tunneling pedal steel of Greg Leisz bolstering an anthem for fearlessly advancing into the future. "Emergency" links hardcore's vim to electroclash's instant allure with Dobson's captivating vocals and guitar work in the spotlight. Tender and vulnerable, "Tiny Threads" is a sweeping anthem for anyone trying to hold anything together-life, love, themselves. "If it haunts me, let it haunt me," Dobson sings softly over a stillness framed only by bass and noise. She let's her guitar careen into feedback, then steadily sculpts it into something tuneful. It's a lifetime of anxiety and sublimation, crystallized into 10 seconds. Billboard Heart feels that way at large.Billboard Heart emerged when Dobson trusted her instincts, a personal breakthrough that prompted an artistic one. It is, in turn, the best Deep Sea Diver album yet, a defiant and brilliant exclamation mark at the end of a long period of wandering.

Bomber 50th Anniversary Dark Blue/Black Splatter Half-Speed Motorhead / When Motorhead released a classic of the magnitude of Overkill in March 1979, they would have been forgiven for taking a breather soon after, but then not all rock bands had their DNA. Somehow in all the madness, they managed to produce the legendary Bomber the very same year. Reaching number 12 on the UK charts, the record brought some of Motorhead's most popular songs, like "Dead Men Tell No Tales," "Stone Dead Forever," and the title track. Honoring the 50th year of one of the greatest and most influential hard rock bands of all time, this classic album has been remastered at half-speed from the original tapes and is available on dark blue/black splatter color vinyl with poster included. Sex Pistols -"Live In The U.S.A. 1978 - South East Music Hall, Atlanta" [Red LP] 40-plus years on from The Sex Pistols' original creative period together (forged amidst times of poor leadership and economic turmoil), the band continues to resonate in ways most could have never imagined - not least those Stateside who witnessed the performances that make up this vital, primal and compelling release. A document of the last days of the band left to run adrift by absent management on a label that didn't really understand them, in a country that arguably felt more threatened than it did excited by the group. Until their return as a live entity in 1996, everything that followed their short, fateful tour of America in January 1978 was simply a parody of what had been. With concerts finally released in full and correctly sequenced for the very first time, Live In The U.S.A. 1978, takes us back to the moment the creative force that was Sex Pistols imploded. Recorded on January 5, 1978 at South East Music Hall, Atlanta. Available on red vinyl. Artist Hometown: London, UK Universal Music Enterprises; UMe; Punk; Catalog [Red LP]

Recorded in LA and produced by friend and collaborator Solomonophic (Remi Wolf, BROCKHAMPTON, Dominic Fike), This Wasn't Meant For You Anyway is a multi-faceted, fearless concept. As irresistible as it is unexpected, Lola's album is crackling with kinetic energy and lyrically fueled by rage, passion, narrative flair and comedy derision. LEE HAZLEWOOD , LOVE AND OTHER CRIMES / Lee Hazlewood made his bones producing and co-writing with guitarist Duane Eddy during the '50s, and then cemented his immortality with the classic sides he produced for Nancy Sinatra during the '60s. Over the past few decades, though, attention has turned to Lee's idiosyncratic solo work, the heart of which he recorded for the Reprise label and his own LHI Records. Issued in 1968, Love and Other Crimes is one of his Reprise releases, and it's one of the weirdest records in his entire catalog. Recorded in Paris with such legendary Wrecking Crew members as guitarist James Burton and drummer Hal Blaine, Hazlewood sounds every bit the bon vivant (read: half drunk) as he swings from country ballads to lightly psychedelic pop highlighted by his rockin' cover of Bonnie Dobson's "Morning Dew." Other highlights include "Rosacoke Street," which presents him at his most psychedelic lounge lizard-esque, (think a Hunter Thompson character from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) and his moving "Wait and See," an apology for bad behavior to an absent lover. We've enlisted Mike Milchner to remaster this one for vinyl... don't miss Lee's stream-of-consciousness back cover notes, either. Pressed in sea blue viny.
Two Sasamis exist in harmony. First is Sasami Ashworth, the conservatory-trained classical French horn player, producer, and composer—an artist with a studious approach to craft. And then there is all-caps SASAMI, the fearless performer and protagonist of her three increasingly audacious albums. For Blood On the Silver Screen, these two sides fused for her most epic and realized music to date: the all-out Sasami pop record.
After establishing herself with the poised melancholia of her eponymous 2019 debut, Sasami embraced volume and control on 2022’s Squeeze—touring with a metal band—but her goal on Blood On the Silver Screen was to speak her truth with conviction by singing. Working with co-producers Jenn Decilveo and Rostam, with Sasami as sole writer, each Blood On the Silver Screen track viscerally captures a different thread of love, sex, power, and embodiment. “Pop music is like fuel,” Sasami says. “It’s just invigorating.”
Across Blood On the Silver Screen, Sasami’s lyrics narrate the ecstasies and agonies of being “a modern lover,” she says—writing about “big city dating endeavors” even as she found herself relocating, on a whim, from Los Angeles to rural Northern California. The anthemic “For the Weekend” explores “modern intimacy, where you can get deep without the relationship being defined,” while the irrepressible “Just Be Friends” bottles the dizzying longing that can overtake those in-betweens.
“I wanted to go all out with this album,” Sasami continues. “I wanted to, in my tenderness and emotionality, have the bravery to undertake something as epic as making a pop record about love. I hope it makes people feel empowered and embodied, too. It’s important to not box yourself in.”
Oceanside Countryside is the latest of Neil Young's great “lost” albums to be released as part of his Analog Original Series. The album was recorded from May to December 1977, preceding the release of Comes A Time in 1978. The two albums share the same country/folk sound, and three songs (“Goin’ Back”, “Human Highway” and “Field of Opportunity”) appear on both albums. The vinyl release of Oceanside Countryside includes some tracks that are on the CD of the same name in Neil Young’s Archives Vol. III. However, this track list is how Oceanside Countryside was originally planned to be released. Recorded on tape, these are the original mixes done at the time of recording. All the songs on “Oceanside” are performed solo by Neil Young. On “Countryside,” Young is joined by a band of his friends: Ben Keith (Steel Guitar), Rufus Thibodeaux (fiddle), Karl T. Himmel (drums), Joe Osborne (bass). On “The Old Homestead” Tim Drummond plays bass and Levon Helm plays drums. “Pocahontas” is Young solo. Please note that while the songs on Oceanside Countrysideappear on Archives Vol.III, the versions are not always the same and the track list is the running order for the original Oceanside Countryside album. On this analog original vinyl release, the versions of “Lost in Space,” “Captain Kennedy” and “The Old Homestead” are from Hawks & Dovesin 1980. “Sail Away”, “Goin’ Back”, “Human Highway”, “It Might Have Been”, and “Pocahontas” are the same versions as on Archives Vol. III in digital. “Field of Opportunity” and “Dance Dance Dance” are the original versions that have Young on backing vocals instead of Nicolette Larson as they appeared on Archives Vol.III.
TRACKLIST:
Side A: Oceanside
1. Sail Away 2. Lost in Space 3. Captain Kennedy 4. Goin’ Back 5. Human Highway
Side B: Countryside
1. Field of Opportunity 2. Dance Dance Dance 3. The Old Homestead 4. It Might Have Been 5. Pocahontas

Liverpool-based four-piece Courting's new album Lust for Life, Or: 'How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story,' is centered around duality. The intention is to bring together everything Courting have created thus far into a succinct, direct, record. Each song on the album is 'twinned', with another, existing within the same type of world. Take for example the opening and closing bookends of the record, both featuring the same string melody but with the first serving as an orchestral introduction, and the second as a speeding dance punk track. The aim is clear as Courting balance the indie and pop songwriting of their previous records with their most experimental moments, each detail more refined than the last time.

Because of their mix of hellified gangster shit and progressive compositions, I once jokingly called Clipping "Deathrow Tull." Well, it's not a joke anymore. While Clipping's last few projects have been record-long concepts like classic prog rock, their cyberpunk-infused new album Dead Channel Sky is mixtape-like, a carefully curated collection in which every track is a love letter to a possible present. It sounds crisp and classic at the same time. When something strikes us as retrospective and futuristic at the same time, it's a reminder of how slipshod our present moment truly is. Juxtaposing high-tech, corporate command-and-control systems (the "cyber") with the lo-fi, D.I.Y. underground (the "punk"), cyberpunk proper starts in 1982 and ends in 1999, from Blade Runner to The Matrix. Concurrently, hip-hop matured, went through it's Golden Era, then melted into further forms: it went from from Fab 5 Freddy to Public Enemy to Missy Elliott. While other genres flirted with it, hip-hop was fickle and fey. Rap and rock birthed mutant offspring maligned by most, and hip-hop's relations with electronica rarely fared any better. What if someone explicitly merged hip-hop and cyberpunk - those twin suns of the '80s and '90s - into one set and sound? After all, both movements are the result of hacking the haunted leftovers of a war-torn culture that's long since moved on.On Dead Channel Sky, Clipping texture-map the twin histories of hip-hop and cyberpunk onto an alternate present where Rammellzee and Bambaataa are the superheroes of old; where Cybotron and Mantronix are the reigning legends; where Egyptian Lover and Freestyle are debated endlessly, and Ultramag and Public Enemy are the undeniable forefathers; where the lost movements of 1980s and the 1990s are still happening: rave, trip-hop, hip-house, acid house, drum & bass, big beat-the detritus of a different timeline, the survivors of armed audio warfare. Clipping are no strangers to sci-fi: two of their records were nominated for Hugo Awards (one of science fiction's top literary prizes), and a novella spun-off from their music was nominated for a third. On Dead Channel Sky, Clipping's co-conspirators include everyone from the guitarist Nels Cline, to their labelmates Cartel Madras, rapper/actor Tia Nomore, and wordsmith Aesop Rock. Diggs is known for intricate lyrics and rapid-fire rapping, and the tracks that Snipes and Hutson build in the background are no less complex. All of the above serves to give us a glimpse of an adjacent possible present, where hip-hop and cyberpunk are one culture.Binary stars are often perceived as one object when viewed with the naked eye. Like those twin sun systems, it'll take some special equipment and some discerning attention to pull the stars apart on this record. As Diggs barks on the fire-starting "Change the Channel": Everything is very important!

Double vinyl LP pressing. UK punk band X-Ray Spex co-founder Lora Logic was unexpectedly ousted before the recording of their debut album 'Germ Free Adolescents' in 1977. Undeterred, Lora went on to form and front the post-punk band Essential Logic. With trademark angular sax lines and her unmistakable vocal stylings, she went on to create some of the most liberating and exciting music of the early post-punk era, not only as Essential Logic, but also as a solo artist. 'Beat Rhythm News (Waddle Ya Play?)' is the band's debut studio album. Lora's solo album 'Pedigree Charm' followed in 1982. This 45th Anniversary 'Deluxe' edition compiles the original studio album together with a bonus album containing the complete Essential Logic studio recordings from 1978 - 1983, including the iconic Cells Records debut single 'Aerosol Burns' (1978), the 'Wake Up' EP (1979), included here for the first time on any physical release since it's original pressing, together with the non-album b-side 'Flora Force' and 3 post album Rough Trade Records single releases: 'Eugene' (1980), 1981's 'Music Is A Better Noise' and 'Fanfare In The Garden', and their respective b-sides.

Over the course of just 10 days, they cut 12 tracks live at the legendary Sunset Sound in Los Angeles. In the end, Lonesome Drifter takes stock of Charley's road in the rearview as it paves a path into the future. Available on 180g black vinyl housed in a printed inner sleeve.

After a decade making the most of improvised recording spaces set in warehouses, trailers and lofts, Japanese Breakfast's fourth album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women), marks the band's first proper studio release. Produced by Grammy Award winner Blake Mills, the record sees front-woman and songwriter Michelle Zauner pull back from the bright extroversion that defined it's predecessor Jubilee to examine the darker waves that roil within, the moody, fecund field of melancholy, long held to be the psychic state of poets on the verge of inspiration. The result is an artistic statement of purpose: a mature, intricate, contemplative work that conjures the romantic thrill of a gothic novel. For Melancholy Brunettes follows a transformative period in Zauner's life during which her 2x GRAMMY nominated breakthrough album Jubilee and her bestselling memoir Crying In H Mart catapulted her into the cultural mainstream, delivering on her deepest artistic ambitions. Reflecting on that success, Zauner came to appreciate the irony of desire, which so often commingles bliss and doom. "I felt seduced by getting what I always wanted," she says. "I was flying too close to the sun, and I realized if I kept going I was going to die."The plight of Icarus and other such condemned ones lends For Melancholy Brunettes it's most persistent theme, the perils of desire. Like light dispersed, it's spectral parts take the album's characters through cycles of temptation, transgression and retribution. On "Orlando in Love" - a riff on John Cheever's riff on Orlando Innamorato, an unfinished epic made up of 68 ½ cantos by the Renaissance poet Matteo Maria Boiardo - the hero is a well meaning poet who parks his Winnebago by the sea and falls victim to a siren's call, his 69th canto (even in the lofty realm of classical myth Zauner has a soft spot for innuendo). "Honey Water" plumbs the quiet rage of a woman married to an unfaithful man, watching him cede again and again to lust like a base insect perpetuating it's own demise.Sadness is indeed the dominant emotional key of this record, but it is sadness of a rarified form: the pensive, prescient sadness of melancholy, in which the recognition of life's essentially tragic character occurs with sensitivity to it's fleeting beauty. Zauner finds space enough inside it for glimmers of hope. They are the consolations of mortals that poets before her have called out to and that poets after will continue to rediscover: love and labor, and though they run like tonic resolutions through the record's many episodes, they sound most saliently on it's final song, "Magic Mountain," an engagement with Thomas Mann's famous novel of the same name. For her, making any work feels like scaling a mountain, but from the perch of For Melancholy Brunettes, she surveys the future.

Goya Gumbani loves getting dressed, guided not by stylists or trends but by his own research and self-expression, an excitement for fabrics, fits, and fundamentals. The Brooklyn-born, South London-based artist approaches Warlord of the Weejuns, his first LP on Ghostly International, after years of acclaimed self-releases with the same mentality. Borrowing the album title from a magazine headline once placed upon Mile Davis (given how well he wore the iconic Weejun loafers), here he channels not just that storied style from the king of cool but an artistic ingenuity and timeless sensibility, redefining his recording project with rich, full-band arrangements. Goya outfits his flow between London's new jazz generation and New York City's hip-hop storytelling legacy, a shared musicality that welcomes various players and guests, including Fatima, lojii, Seafood Sam, Yaya Bey, and many others. Marked by unguarded ambition and introspection, Warlord of the Weejuns is a triumph of taste, heritage, and pride from one of rap music's most dexterous talents.
In the Fall of 2022, Phil Cook found himself living alone in a small home at the edge of field and forest in North Carolina's Piedmont. For most of Cook's life he lived near the hearts of the towns he had called home, near the groan of traffic and hubbub of coffee shops. Such close quarters helped make the gregarious Cook a prolific collaborator, from co-founding Megafaun to working with The Blind Boys of Alabama, Bon Iver, Hiss Golden Messenger, and endless others. But Cook's closest neighbor now was a trailhead, so he went and listened, enraptured first by the stillness and then by the manifold birds. He began leaving his windowsill slightly cracked each night, so that the dawn chorus greeted him. Cook began recording these tangled bird songs, and he slowly joined them. With the sun finally high, Cook would listen to the day's recordings and improvise in real time on the instrument that remains the first and most steadfast love of his musical life, the piano. When Cook left that cabin after a year, he moved into a home of his own in Durham, with plenty of space for his two boys to play and for something he'd never actually owned-a proper piano. Over the next several months, Cook spent untold hours drilling down on these pieces. During lessons with the Southern gospel great Chuckey Robinson, the pianist had challenged Cook to sustain fewer notes, to stop clouding and crowding his melodies by using the instrument's pedals as crutches. His music suddenly had more clarity, with the sounds and the feelings they ferried given more room to function. Cook dug into the danger and delight, into the idea that we twist our bodies into knots trying to understand what is best for our hearts. In April 2024 Cook returned to Wisconsin's Chippewa Valley where he was raised. His lifelong friend and bandmate, Justin Vernon, had just finished an overhaul of April Base, the studio compound where Cook has worked on more than a dozen records during the last 15 years. Cook asked Vernon to produce Appalachia Borealis as simply as possible-merely to listen and offer feedback in two extended afternoon sessions, to talk about the right takes and make sure that they'd captured the heart. It, of course, got more complicated, as they experimented with the process. Vernon would add or subtract the bird songs to Cook's headphones, seeing how they impacted his playing. Or they would route his notes through a massive reverb chamber, Cook responding in gossamer improvisations. Appalachia Borealis is a deeply poignant and personal set of 11 piano meditations, built with the emotional range of a full and open existence. Inspired by those windowsill improvisations, it reflects not only the turmoil and sadness of a fraught time for Cook but also the hope, light, and joy of looking for the other side. You can sometimes still hear the birds whose tune and time helped to inspire so many of these songs. Even when they're not within earshot, their essence remains.
Grace Bowers was baptized by rock ‘n’ roll music. She cut her teeth on sweat soaked stages inside dive bars and found fellowship in the divine playing of B.B. King. She once studied six-string scripture – written by Slash and Leslie West – for hours a day, mastering her favorite riffs on a ‘61 cherry-finished Gibson SG.
She’s a bandleader and songwriter preparing to leave her mark on some of the biggest stages in music. Her debut album, Wine On Venus – produced by ace guitarist and songwriter John Osborne (of hitmaking country group Brothers Osborne) – is out now.
On the album, Bowers and The Hodge Podge graduate from traditional rock and blues influence to sounds inspired by Parliament-Funkadelic and Sly and the Family Stone/ Bowers co-wrote most of Wine On Venus in Nashville songwriting circles – a creative exercise that took her “a hot second” to comfortably navigate.
“I love it,” she said. “Seeing where I can go with it, I still have so much to learn.”

El Cabron is the second studio album from Texas-based country artist, Pug Johnson. The songs on El Cabron are simple yet three-dimensional, offering vivid glimpses into the stories and thoughts of characters who all tend to run on pure instinct, unable to escape their own depravity, all the while displaying a deep sense of self-awareness. Intertwining personal stories with fiction, Pug explores themes of corruption, desire, perseverance, love, loss, and then love again. Pulling from a wide variety of musical genres prevalent in the Southeast Texas region he calls home, Pug effortlessly mixes Tejano, Zydeco, Texas Swing, Honky-Tonk, R&B, Dixieland, and down-home Rock and Roll -- all behind a voice that is pure Country.

For nearly four decades, Alison Krauss & Union Station have upheld their legacy as one of the most influential and widely celebrated acts in bluegrass and roots music. Krauss is a 27-time Grammy winner and was inducted into the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2021. Known for an immaculately crafted but endlessly surprising sound that transcends the boundaries of roots, country, rock & roll, and pop, Alison Krauss & Union Station are making their long-awaited return with Arcadia – their first LP since the 2011 masterpiece Paper Airplane—a critically lauded, multiple Grammy Award winning LP that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country, Bluegrass, and Folk Album charts. This spring, they will embark on a 73-date tour of North America, their first since 2015.
Arcadia was produced by Alison Krauss & Union Station with additional production by 10-time Grammy winning producer Gary Paczosa, who has worked extensively with the band. The players – Alison Krauss (fiddle, lead vocal), Jerry Douglas (Dobro, lap steel, vocals), Ron Block (banjo, guitar, vocals), Barry Bales (bass, vocals), and welcoming highly acclaimed and celebrated tenor vocalist Russell Moore (guitar, mandolin, lead vocal) as the newest member – are five distinct personalities, each of whom also enjoys a flourishing solo career. But when they come together, they transform into a peerless group of musicians who share a singular focus.

Describing Chase Atlantic’s sound as of their fourth full-length, LOST IN HEAVEN is both simple and impossible. The Australian-born, LA-based trio is instantly identifiable, yet incredibly difficult to put a title or genre on either their sound or the audience that adores them. They fit in just as well playing massive pop festivals as they do touring with rock bands. With an array of hits across multiple genres, Chase Atlantic has picked up one of the widest-ranging fan bases in all of music.
Earthstar Mountain is an ode to curiosity. It asks what it means to live a life: how do we decide which direction to take? How do we stay there? And what happens when the rug is pulled from under our feet? Once again working with her partner and collaborator Sam Evian at their recording studio Flying Cloud, Hannah Cohen’s fourth full length album Earthstar Mountain, is a keepsake of Cohen's time in the Catskills, built over the course of 2020 - 2024, as blurred, shimmering memories come into focus to produce a collage of echoes and sonic souvenirs. Featuring contributions from Sufjan Stevens, Clairo, Sean Mullins, Liam Kazar, Oliver Hill and more, Earthstar Mountain is a love letter to the Catskills and in the interconnectedness of all things: in her past, present, future and alternative selves, in her friends here and gone and in the mountain that peers through her windows.

"This album is a combination of so many parts of me," says Maya. "I get so influenced by different genres, people, places, and experiences that it's always felt hard for me to fit my music into a consistent sound or mood. It took me a long time (hence The Long Way Round) to realize that it's a beautiful thing to have a body of work that explores so many different influences." Sex Pistols -"Live In The U.S.A. 1978 - Longhorns Ballroom, Dallas" : [White LP] 40-plus years on from the Sex Pistols' original creative period together (forged amidst times of poor leadership and economic turmoil), the band continues to resonate in ways most could have never imagined - not least those Stateside who witnessed the performances that make up this vital, primal and compelling release. Recorded on January 10, 1978 at Longhorns Ballroom, Dallas. Available on white vinyl.

Babe Rainbow’s ‘Slipper imp and shakaerator’ is a sun-soaked celebration of psychedelic acid-pop, infused with the laid-back magic of Australia’s Gold Coast. A return to their roots, the album blends nostalgic riffs, shimmering ‘80s funk, flowing rhythms, and lysergic jams into an effortlessly joyful, homegrown album that’s wild, radiant, and ready to be shared.
Djo, the musical project of Joe Keery, returns with his third studio album, 'The Crux' —a deeply reflective and sonically adventurous body of work. Following the massive success of his single “End of Beginning” which topped the Global Spotify chart and amassed over 1.5 billion streams worldwide, 'The Crux' was crafted at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York. Drawing inspiration from the turbulence and growth of navigating one’s 20s, the album explores themes of self-discovery and connection, all wrapped in a narrative that serves as a love letter to those who matter most to Djo. Aptly titled 'The Crux', this album captures a moment suspended between the past and an undefined future.
When you hear music like this—the wild, loose and woozy drags of guitar; the impossible beauty of it all—what kind of landscape presents itself in your mind? Vistas big enough to be forgotten in. Deserts which stretch back to the beginning of time. Infinite horizons melting into pink bokehs. It’s Texas, isn’t it? Formed in 2017 in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley Glare aren’t so much genre traditionalists as they are painters of wide realms and intense moods. The four-piece band has already accumulated a large audience, both in the flesh with their reputation for sell-out shows, and on the internet, a place where people go to short-circuit feelings through their screens. Sunset Funeral, the band’s debut LP, is a fog of dreamy grief, where feeling supersedes language. It’s music, as guitarist Toni Ordaz puts it, “for people who don’t know how to talk about how they feel.” An album that’s been years in the making, Sunset Funeral is a document of unspeakable grief, charting the process of mourning and how it travels through our subconscious and dreams. One of the great charms of Sunset Funeral, and of Glare overall, is how they approach such a large, celestial sound with humble materials. Among the shoegaze revivalists, Glare come to the canvas with a more resourceful, DIY perspective than many of their peers. Glare’s music is too sublime, too huge to sound like it came from any kind of man made instrument, tiny amp box or otherwise. On first listen, Sunset Funeral—which scans as vast as desert sand—may overwhelm the senses. But look closer, and you’ll find a multiplicity of heavily crushed textures, treasures. ‘Guts’, with its sweetly chugging guitar line, dissolves the borders between bliss and despair. ‘2 Soon 2 Tell’, one of the album’s most gauzily romantic tracks, is both tense and transcendent. Nü Burn, a crunchy and lilting number, harkens back to the band’s grittier hardcore roots. But even when they deign to go hard, you can hear a softening in Glare’s sound compared to any of their previous releases, as well as an attempt to lean into more traditional pop song structures. The music drifts heavenward, to be sure, though it’s still tethered down by steady foundations. It’s beautiful. It’s humid. It’s delirious. It’s music made by people whose feelings speak louder than their words.
Forever Howlong is Black Country, New Road’s first studio release since 2022's UK #3 album Ants From Up There, which gave the band their second Top 5 UK album in 12 months alongside their Mercury Prize shortlisted debut For the first time, and follows 2023's Live at Bush Hall, an album The Guardian claimed was a “magical resurgence” in a triumphant five-star review. Now, on studio album three, the band are once again building from the ground up in yet another miraculous musical transformation.
The long-awaited new record was produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C., Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Blur) and sees Black Country, New Road settled into a new shape in which vocal duties – and most of the song writing – is split between Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery, and May Kershaw. “It created a real through line for the album, having three girls singing," says Ellery. "It's definitely very different to Ants From Up There, because of the female perspective - and the music we've made also compliments that."
Forever Howlong is an ambitious, meticulously detailed record that includes everything from folk to prog via baroque pop and touches of alt-rock – with nods to everything from Joanna Newsom to Randy Newman via Fiona Apple and Janis Ian – yet all the while retaining that unmistakably unique sound that only this combination of musicians can come up with. Although hugely varied and expansive, the album also feels deeply cohesive and focused, as it takes three distinct voices and styles and seamlessly intersperses them into a new collective sound.
