Dave Brubeck Trio - Live from Vienna 1967 is an extremely rare, red-hot performance by Dave and his famous rhythm section -- Joe Morello, on drums, and Gene Wright on bass. Alto saxophonist, Paul Desmond, missed the plane to Vienna and the remaining trio took the stage with a mission; show the packed hall that the three of them could play up a storm despite being one man down. Each musician in the trio was at the top of their game and each player was forced to stretch out their solos which landed them in new creative territories. The communication of musical concepts between Dave and Joe is extraordinary as they improvise boldly and respond to each other's fresh ideas. Gene Wright solos far more than usual on this album and his playing is a fitting tribute to the longest living member of the Quartet. (Gene died on December 30th, 2020.) Dave Brubeck plays masterfully revealing a rhythmic complexity to his approach on the piano that is remarkable and reminds the listener of his extremely inventive approach to jazz improvisations. Harmonically, he also explores polytonality in the most unexpected places; for example, on the ballad "La Paloma Azul." On "Swanee River" Dave is playfully polyrhythmic. Dave's light touch on "One Moment Worth Years" is charming and gives a nod to the great more traditional pianists who went before him. On this great-sounding recording, you can hear the full breadth of Dave's playing which pushes jazz forward while honoring his past influences. Opening with "St. Louis Blues," the set includes the rhythmically challenging, high-spirited "Someday My Prince Will Come," and ends with "Take the A Train" as an encore. This is a thrilling set! The sound is wonderful and listening to this album will make you feel as if you were sitting in the audience that historic night.

Not long before recording his first songs for Bright Eyes, 14-year-old singer-songwriter Conor Oberst co-founded Commander Venus alongside bassist (and future Cursive frontman) Tim Kasher, guitarist Robb Nansel (now president of Saddle Creek Records), and drummer Matt Bowen (who would soon join the Faint and be replaced by Ben Armstrong). After releasing their 1995 debut, Do You Feel at Home?, the Omaha indie rockers caught the attention of Wind-up Records, who backed the group�s sophomore album, The Uneventful Vacation. While The Uneventful Vacation marked the musicians� final record together, before they each embarked on their next ventures, this formative album has since become a cult favorite in the �90s emo canon. This 25th Anniversary Edition is pressed on Red & Black Smoke vinyl with all-analog mastering from the original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Epsilon in Malaysian Pale... which could be described as part of the "Phaedra Rubycon Epsilon" trilogy, shows Froese's impressions after the Australian Tangerine Dream concert tour, in relation to the flora and fauna there. Froese creates here a lush sonic atmosphere, the music matches the cover artwork perfectly. The music is harmonic and melodic. A sun-drenched musical landscape that is in no way inferior to the most famous Tangerine Dream albums.

It was not without reason that both David Bowie and Bj�rk named Epsilon in Malaysian Pale as one of their inspirations.

This recording features Rory and his band playing a 7 song set at the San Diego Sports Arena on February 8, 1974. Although it never came out in England, Decca Records kept the masters to the intended U.K. pressing which is now being released on vinyl. A.R. Kane was a British musical duo formed in 1986 by Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala. After releasing two early EPs to critical acclaim, the group topped the UK Independent Chart with their debut album 69 (1988). Their second album, "i" (1989), was also a top 10 hit. They were also part of the one-off collaboration MARRS, whose surprise dance hit "Pump Up the Volume" was released in 1987. In true Stiff Records fashion, Jake Riviera (Stiff's founder) and Nick Lowe were looking for any opportunity to mess with music journalists ahead of the release of Nick's debut solo record. Jake and Nick had already learned that the album title, Jesus of Cool, would not be appropriate for the US release on Columbia; stateside it would be known as Pure Pop for Now People. Jake and Nick loved that the album would have two titles because it would lead to confusion. But then they thought "why stop at two titles?" Jake and Nick made it their goal to feed as many conflicting stories as possible to journalists, including giving fake album titles for Nick's debut to interviewers. This resulted in one paper "exclusively revealing" to readers that Nick's solo debut would be titled Wireless World. While Jesus of Cool and Pure Pop for Now People gave Nick his rightful place on the power pop plateau, the whispers of Wireless World faded away as mysteriously as they appeared. Now, for the first time ever, Wireless World is being issued on LP more than 40 years after first being reported. The album combines the tracklisting of Jesus of Cool and Pure Pop for Now People into one studio album.
